Making Extra Money | Students

So, it's been two long months since your first instalment of your student loan dropped into your bank account and things are starting to look pretty bleak.
You had to fork out for your text books, accommodation fees and probably a few too many drinks! But with christmas just around the corner it is always nice to get your hands on a bit of extra cash!

Get a part time job
Whilst at university there are lots of part time jobs available, some are even on campus working as part of the students union or in your campus stores/coffee shops. Don't be afraid to pop into stores in your local town centre armed with copies of your CV, what's the worst that can happen! Just try to be realistic about how many hours you can work around your studies. The extra money is great but it should always come second to your studies, after all you don't want to be drooling over your laptop in 9am lectures because you were working flat out the night before!

Open a Depop account
Depop is a super easy app used for buying and selling items. This can be an amazing way to get your hands on some extra cash. Take a look around your bedroom and pick out the items that you just aren't showing enough love to, if you don't use it, sell it!

Tips for success:
In order to be successful on Depop you need to take some clear pictures of your items so that the buyer is really drawn to them when they are scrolling through listings. Next you will write up a short description of your item and choose a price. And you're done!
There are no fees charged to list your items on Depop so go crazy and list as many items as you like, even if they don't end up selling, you haven't lost anything!

Caution:
One word of caution however, Depop does charge a 10% fee for all items sold and paypal will take a further 3.4% + 20p per item sold so just be mindful of this when deciding on your price.

Another potential stinger when selling online is the postage costs, postage can be expensive! This just means it is something that you will need to factor into your prices to make sure you are still left with an end figure that you are happy with.

Finally, don't be afraid to say no! buyers will often make you offers on your items for a price lower than what you have stated. If you are happy to accept and sell for that price then great, if not, there is nothing wrong with politely declining the offer. After all, the only thing worse than non-buyers regret is regret is sellers regret!

Tutoring
Tutoring younger students can be a great way to earn yourself some extra cash! This could be tutoring students in lower years at your university or even getting in touch with students who are studying for their A-levels. This is a really good option because it means you can fit it in at a time that is convenient to your studies and you can limit your hours to suit your work load. Don't be shy to promote yourself on your course society Facebook page as you might be surprised how many people would take you up on your offer!

Let me know in the comments if you have tired any of these methods, or if you have any others ways that you earn yourself a little extra cash!
